Team building adventure in Montenegro

Team building adventure in Montenegro

What sparkles joy in you when you think about travel, team building, active holiday and maybe all this in Montenegro. That feeling of excitement that comes when you think about it and the chills that say “oooh I can’t wait for this to happen!”

Organizing team building and finding best solution

As a leader of a big team and thrill seeker myself. I would definitely go for an adventure, but not everyone is up for the active team building that I dream about. I know my people well. When I see them working hard, the only thing that comes to my mind is how to make them happy, get to know them better, and see them enjoy the ride! Believe it or not, I’m on a mission to please all of them because they all deserve it!

I am born in Montenegro, but most of my life I am living in Belgrade. When I think about Montenegro, it is a call for a true adventure. While being a small country, it is very diverse regarding the landscape. High mountains in the northern part of the country to almost 300 km of the coastal area. To simplify – beautiful mountains meet the sea where the two farthest points are connected by only 190 kilometers of the airline. During the summertime, you can swim and hike on the same day!

Feeling of freedom in Montenegro is a good as a injection for your team building.

My first thoughts, soundbites, and feelings about Montenegro are freedom, forests, mountains, fresh sharp air, all shades of blue, sea, warm sand, wind, clear water, food that tastes amazing, and divine wine that melts the human heart!

To get to the point, after thorough research this is what I’d like to do for my team. Hiking on a most beautiful peak, rafting in the deepest canyon in Europe, bike rides all around the Bay of Kotor, kayaking on the Skadar lake, wine, and organic homemade food tasting. This is a fantastic five-day tour where you can hike, swim in the sea, or lake, ride a bicycle, and experience Boka Bay.

You definitely don’t want to drag your people into team-building activities where they don’t feet comfortable. Everyone can find a piece of their heaven during this tour. Someone might find their new passion and try new things. Experience exchange can be a true bonding moment and people will see each other at their best. The ones that like walking around and just enjoying food and sightseen will have enough to fill in all five days. You can read more about the tour here. I was a little bit sceptic “is it too much 5 days”. Definitely not in a right package.

Why so much effort around the team building in Montenegro?

Because it supports strong company culture, builds trust, brings people together, and improves interpersonal relationships between employees. Imagine the atmosphere in the office or on the group call after a great team-building? Good vibes, creativity sparks, and teams getting together to get the job done. My favorite one – it makes people more accepting and resolves conflicts most of the time.

As a leader, I appreciate all the tools that are used to improve communication, teamwork, employee engagement, and productivity. Team Building in Montenegro was a genuine tool. We planned it carefully and my team made really happy and made them more open to start using other tools for their areas of improvement. Because who doesn’t want to fit in the progress?

PROKLETIJE National Park, peaks of the Balkan

PROKLETIJE National Park, peaks of the Balkan

Prokletije National Park are part of program Peaks of the Balkans which involve Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. On our language “Prokletije” means “cursed”. Relief is jagged, with numerous peaks, gorges, steep slopes, alps-like river valleys, in a history place very hard for living. Because of hard economic situation of this region, this program was made for better incomes of local communities.

About Prokletije National Park

Prokletije National Park are maybe in Montenegro last explored corner. Certainly is not less beautiful, less wild or less interesting than any of our other national parks. We have just unjustly sacrificed this treasure until we promote other parts of our country. On park’s territory, there are over 1,700 species of plants, representing half the flora of Montenegro. Place of glacial lakes, large and small streams, springs and wells of drinking and mineral water, rivers.
To explore this part of our country you can stay in Rozaje or Plav . From this towns to reach Albania or Kosovo is also very easy and nearby.

Peaks of the Balkan

If you choose to stay in Plav take some cottage around Plavsko lake . This lake is clean glacial lake so you can swim in a lake but ask locals where is safe. Near Plav you can visit Gusinje , very authentic city . Most of a community are Muslims. If you choose Thursday for visit is a market day. So you will see a lot people on a street just walking and selling their products.
Seems like a real fair from a time before. You will get impression like you are not in Europe .

There is Ali Pasini springs in this town what is very nice to visit on just 1,5 km far away. It was found that the water comes from the earth over an area of 300 square meters. Yielding, for most of the year, about four cubic meters of water per second, or about four tons every second. Water is always very cold and refreshing.

Hridsko lake hiking and Hajla hiking

From Plav most beautiful hiking is to Hrid lake (Ridsko lake) . This is a perfect rout also for mountain biking . Lake is like a beautiful pearl. There is a legend that this was a place where fairy used to come to swimming. One beautiful mountain is nice to visit Visitor which is full of blueberries in August. There is also one festival dedicated to blueberry harvesting. A lot of people from aboard come to visit and even some of them to find a wife 🙂

From Rozaje you can get by jeep to Derman do and to hike on Hajla . Here there is 10 km routs, connecting few peaks in this massif every on 2000 m above sea level. Also best place to stay in Rozaje is Jela Nature resort  whit great landscape and restaurant .

BIOGRADSKA GORA National Park

Biogradska Gora National Park is one of the last three virgin forest in the Europe. Legend says that for locals was forbidden to cat threes around this Biogradsko lake, because that brings bad luck for all family. Beautiful lake which shining surrounded by forest makes impression of calm and peaceful filling.

If you want to walk around lake is very easy and flat . Nature is beautiful high trees which make you a shade whit water spring so you don’t need to bring a lot of water. Try this mountain water to heal your body.  In August this lake get dry but that doesn’t mean is less beautiful .

Bjelasica mountain

Around Biogradska gora National Park there is a lot of hiking routs. You should visit Bjelasica mountain in any period of a year . Some thinks that this is one of the most beautiful and colorful mountains in Montenegro. Zekova glava with a view on Biogradska Gora National Park is one of a routs we recommend . Start can be from Kolasin or from Biogradska Gora National Park. There are some ethno villages so we recommend to taste this traditional food. LOVCEN National Park

LOVCEN National Park

Old Montenegro had very small territory , 4 hills and 7 region with Lovcen National Park and Cetinje as a most important, indeed great for hiking. Even in a our national dance “Oro” eagle , groups of mans stand on each other shoulders in order to make a Lovcen .

Position of Lovcen National Park

Position of Lovcen National park is really great. If you reach Jezerski peak where is Mausoleum after 461 stairs, you will have beautiful view. On one side open Adriatic sea , bright in the endless, on other proud mountains, tall and wild with a Skadar lake in the middle. Is on a high more than 1000 m have continental clime. But wind from a Adriatic sea which is very near have influence on the air. Because of that here is a perfect place for smoke ham and cheese our national products. You can also by here very good honey .

If you are hiking lover , there is a lot of great routs and hiking in Lovcen could be epic . You should reach a place Ivanova Korita. Best time to do hiking in Lovcen is early autumn September, October or April,May . But still if you are coming in summer , just go on hiking very early in the morning to skip strong sun . Lovcen is karst , rocky area with a few springs and when sun is strong it is very hard to reach a peak.

CETINJE – history, culture and things to do

CETINJE – history, culture and things to do

Cetinje Old Royal Capital was founded in the year 1482 and since than is center of history, culture and spirit of Montenegrin people. We will also speak about Catinje things to do.

Short history about Cetinje

When Turks come to conquer Montenegro they were mostly interested for region around Skadar lake. That was our most valuable part because of strategical position and fertile land good for agriculture plus rich by water. Montenegrin people escape in Cetinje area surrounding by karst mountain, dry, with crude climate. Indeed this area war hard for living.

Probably because of this factors Montenegrin people grove in a brave warriors, proud and strong. Most of a history we were giving a resistance to Ottoman Empire on one side and Venetian Republic on other, later Austro-Hungarian. Old Royal capital Cetinje with Lovcen National Park speaks about that period. If you want to get know spirit, history and culture of Montenegrin people you should come in Cetinje.

Cetinje things to do – Museums in Cetinje

Cetinje has five museums and we recommend to visit all five if you have time: King Nikola’s museum, Biljarda, Art museum, History museum, Ethnographic Museum. (For five museums you get a discount). But if you only have few hours for visit, go in Historic and Art museums placed in Vladin Dom Government house. Biljarda is also interesting it was built by bishop prince Njegos. Got a name because of first billiard pool in Montenegro. You can see a lot of pictures of old Cetinje, Montenegrin costumes, interesting documents. Also in Biljarda is relief of Montenegro made by Austo-Hungarians 150 years ago. Without using modern technology this relief is almost totally correct.

Royal family Petrovic

Royal family for 222 years was Petrovac family. We will just mention some of members. So one of the most important person was Njegos. Except Biljarda you also must visit Mausoleou of Njegos on top of Lovcen. He was a great ruler and poet. He opened the window to Montenegrin people in the world. Used to travel a lot and was appreciated by the noble families in Europe. Montenegro was shrouded in the darkness of ignorance so Njegos  enlightenment ruler put a modern light in our old-fashioned habits.

If Njegos opened the window definitely King Nikola open the door. He even got a nickname Father in law of half of a Europe. With queen Milena he had 12 children, 9 daughters. So he was in a problem how he will collect dowry . Lucky was on his side so two of the daughters get married in Romanov family , one was queen of Serbia and Jelena was queen of Italy. So Montenegro get connections and even had 17 embassies in that period . In a year of 1878 finally we got independence and Montenegro were internationally recognized.

Italian queen Regina Elena

Regina Elena de Savoya was a daughter of King Nikola.  Italians was very lucky to have such a pressure queen . She was involve in all kind of activities to help poor people . She even organize a lunch every day for 500 people in front a a castle . So noble people would wait to be invite and for poor people this was a normal think. In period of Spanish flu she helped in a hospitals like a nurse . Doctors would warned her that she is dangerous , but she responded ” Only virus I admit is a fear ” Also was an artist , painter , photographer , she enjoyed excavating with archaeologists. We could write a lot of good things she done for Italy, that why she simply got a name Regina .

Cetinje Monastery

Behind wall of Cetinje Monastery there is a lot of history, culture, spirituality and three very important relics. The hand of John the Baptist, a fragment of the Calvary cross and the miraculous icon Our Lady of the Way “Hodegetria” . This Monastery is near the Biljarda a definitely have to just enter inside.

Cetinje things to do, restaurants

Walking around the street you will see a lot souvenirs shops, restaurant, bars.
For restaurants we recommend to go in one old traditional in a street Baja Pivljanina 20 Restaurant Cetinje, , than Konoba Korzo , Obelix restaurant , Retaurant Kole and if you are going to visit Lipska cave on a way to cave you have restaurant Belvedere.

Visit Lovcen National Park

If you coming by car or bicycle , you should visit Lovcen National park with a view on Kotor bay . Here you have really good hiking routs , climbing , you have a possibility to rent a quad . There is recreation place Ivanova Korita where you can do barbecue and enjoy on fresh mountain air , mixed with wind from a sea.

The most beautiful view on Kotor bay is definitely on the top of 25 serpentine road. Other the most beautiful view on Skadar lake also nearby Old Royal capital Cetinje is Pavlova Strana. All this experience you can taste on our one day private tour.
